Louise Edwards 2022

Having worked in a creative industry since leaving school (being a painter at a well known art pottery) Louise has always enjoyed putting her own stamp on her surroundings, but painting and drawing as a hobby became something of a busman’s holiday. So, remembering being taught lino printing by the Mother of her friend when she was young and how the magical process had been so captivating, she began to reacquaint herself with the techniques. After experimenting with various ideas and styles she finally found herself committing to becoming a part-time professional printmaker in 2021 and was accepted as a member of The Peak District Artisans.

Louise’s time spent walking around her local area with her dog provides most of the inspiration needed for the images she creates. These are mainly concentrating on, but not limited to, nature, the Seasonal changes and anything that her World has to offer that she finds enthralling. Her style is influenced by the beautiful book illustrations that captivated her as a child and the marvellous works of women Artists like Clare Leighton, Agnes Miller-Parker and Gertrude Hermes.
