I’m Megan, a ceramicist and owner of MK Designs. I use my passion for interiors and the environment to create products for the home. I’ve always been creative taking art and design during college, but I really got into ceramics during my degree at Staffordshire University which I graduated from in June 2021. For my degree show I created over 170 testers using waste materials to create texture, these then informed my final collection of lighting and planters.

Since graduating, I’ve exhibited and sold my work at a variety of shows and exhibitions as well as creating an online presence. In September last year I completed a ceramic residency at the university, whilst running my business. Since December I’ve taken a short break from making but I have recently started a new collection in addition to my existing planters and lighting. This new collection is experimental, much like the testers I created during my degree but will explore the use of colourful surface pattern and texture. This collection will be completed in time for Leek Open Studios and named ‘five’ as a nod to my 5-month break from making and the 5 months of making between May and September.
