Inspired by nature Jonathan twists and twines the stems, branches and twigs of young trees into
fantastical walking sticks, magical staffs and witchy wands. He incorporates semi precious stones and
glass in to pieces then leaves the trees to grow for several years to set, strengthen and grow round
the crystals locking them in place.
From coppice regrowth, Jonathans work is locally grown and sustainably sourced and powered by the
environment. Truly unique, overlooked when growing, shaped to be seen, finished to be used, as
magical as they are practical.
Describe what you will be demonstrating at the event
Jonathan will demonstrate techniques used to finish a grown staff and wand, from carving to best
display the grain to sanding and polishing. He will also be working to add antler and bone handles.
