Having gained a BA Hons in Bookbinding and Calligraphy from Roehampton Institute, London, Holly has since worked professionally as a bookbinder for over 25 years. She makes, repairs and restores books and boxes. Using traditional tools and processes, she binds fancy and functional books with tactile leathers, bookcloths, decorative and marbled papers. Holly enjoys passing on her skills to like minded folk by regularly teaching bookbinding workshops in Derbyshire.
Describe what you will be demonstrating at the event
Holly will be demonstrating traditional bookbinding techniques including folding paper for pages, hand-stitching, headbanding and leather paring. She will display examples of different stages of the binding process and book repair including respining and blind tooling.
